May Madness

May has been a whirlwind month of holidays and major life changes. The holidays were Mother’s Day, my 12th wedding anniversary, my birthday, and Memorial Day. In the midst of all this, the biggest life changing event of all was purchasing a new home and moving.

Getting our current home of thirteen years ready to put on the market with three young children and two dogs was a daunting strategy. It would also be almost impossible to keep the house ready to show to potential buyers at a moments notice.  We decided instead to take the approach of purchasing a new home, moving, and then getting our current house ready to sell. This made for the most chaotic and stressful month I can remember.

To minimize how long we’d have multiple mortgages, it was important to focus less on unpacking and getting the new house situated and more on getting our old home on the market as quickly as possible. Every free moment was spent repairing, painting, cleaning, and prepping to reach our goal of getting the house listed by June 1st.

Even through all the stress and chaos we pulled together as a family, got the house ready, and survived what I now call “May Madness”.
